Welcome to Sight Concern Bedfordshire’s online presence.

With a little help from us blind and partially sighted people can retain and or regain lost independence brought about by visual impairment.

On this site we will help you to access a wide range of information about visual impairment and the services available to you.

History

Sight Concern has been providing assistance to the blind and partially sighted people of Luton and Bedfordshire for over 160 years in total, previously as three separate charities; as one charity, Sight Concern Bedfordshire from November 1999.

Why

Across Luton and Bedfordshire there are an estimated 10,000 people living with severe vision loss. Yet, approximately only 3,500 people are registered as blind or partially sighted. This means that there are about 6,500 people who are unaware of the services available to them, which would enable them to live an easier more independent lifestyle.

Sight Concern Bedfordshire’s aim is to enhance the independence of blind and partially sighted peoplem, reach out to the whole community to raise awareness about visual impairment and to ensure that everyone who requires information, and or, assistance receives it.

Use the information provided here to get you started or call us to access a staff member at either of our offices to arrange a personal visit. The links provided will lead you to other informative and helpful resources for vision impaired users and their families and carers.
