Adrian Spurrell – Chair

A Leadership and Organisation Development consultant living in Bedford, Adrian is passionate about helping local organisations maximise the impact they can have in the community.
His maternal grandmother suffered with Glaucoma and Cataracts; both of his parents have had Cataract operations and his daughter was treated for a significant squint when she was very little so he has had a lot of personal involvement with family members who have had sight issues.

Joanna Jameson – Treasurer

Joanna is a Chartered Accountant by trade, and has been running her own small accountancy practice since 2014. Introduced to the Board by her brother-in-law Martin Green (at the time Chair of Trustees) she has been providing finance knowledge & support to the Board as Treasurer since joining Sight Concern in 2016.

As a busy mum of two girls, Joanna enjoys spending time with her family, but also loves sitting quietly with a good book – if ever the chance arises!

David Mitchell

David became visually impaired 40 years ago at the age of 30.

This meant rehabilitation, training and a new job. David was fortunate enough to be employed most of the time and ended with 25 years in the local Jobcentre. These were years of adjustment and coping and also advising others in finding work and benefits.

David has been a Trustee at SCB and BDAN (Bedford & District Audio News) for over 25 years and helped to set up the local access group and shopmobility. He is an active member of local clubs and societies and also sit on the Borough’s Local Access Forum. David thinks his full and varied life makes him ideal to help and advise SCB.

Calli O’Brien

Calli has worked within the marketing profession for 12 years and is now a full time Brands Marketing Controller within the drinks industry (private sector).

She hopes to use her understanding of consumer behaviour and marketing strategy to help deliver relevant and meaningful marketing and brand activation across the charity sector here at Sight Concern Bedfordshire, in turn building and maintaining user awareness of, and interaction with the services that SCB can provide.

Not counting the long commutes into Birmingham as a hobby, in her spare time Calli enjoys being out with her dog, reading, and eating, drinking and socialising with good company

Jamile Little

Jamile is a Luton resident and is visually impaired. “As a Sight Concern Bedfordshire trustee I am keen to be a part of a great cause to assist blind and visually impaired individuals.”
